Sunday 1st September

Fishing

We had a lovely morning that was warm as usual with a bit of cloud and lots of sun. One of the teachers from Jean Mariotti and her husband, took us out on their boat across to an island where there is a hotel and restaurant.  We walked around the island and then had a delectable Tahitian salad for lunch - a firm fave for me!

And we were off!  By this time it had clouded over like yesterday had, but it was so warm and the sea was like glass!

We saw turtles swimming in the shallows around the island .........

and Bill told me to watch out for snakes as we started our walk around the island. I said to stop trying to scare me because there weren't any this close to the mainland but next minute.......
                                                             there were heaps of them!

We also found this beach babe on our walk! Mani had sailed over there with his billet also.

Tahitienne salad - raw fish marinated in lemon and coconut juice

Bill was absolutely in his happy place.

Baz caught the biggest fish - a coral trout. Bill is whipping us up something                                                                      special for dinner with it.

Bill is now practising the french speech I wrote for him to give at the Mayoral reception tomorrow.
He  starts his speech in Maori, transitions into appalling french then ends in English!  They always appreciate his attempts though and he always makes them laugh!
I am looking forward to seeing all the kids again and hearing of the weekend exploits.

Au Revoir!

  1. That does not look like a school trip but a Men's fishing trip lol. Great to see the school leaders having some R and R. The salad looks like a cross between raw fish and the Island potato salad. YUM. Maggie Trueman.
